2 Girls At Avon Park Middle School Arrested On Charges Of Conspiracy To Commit Murder

(WFLA)

AVON PARK, Fla. – Two Highlands County middle school students were arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit murder after detectives say they plotted to harm others.

The Highlands County School Board on Thursday released details about the incident involving the Avon Park Middle School students and said it was releasing the details in an effort to prevent incorrect information from circulating.

The school district said the two students were taken into custody at Avon Park Middle School on Wednesday after a teacher told law enforcement about a possible plan to harm others off campus.

The school district said that all families involved in the incident have been contacted. The school district is not releasing additional details at this time.

A parent whose child was one of the sudents targeted spoke to WFLA 8 On Your Side about the incident. The parent said the students who were arrested were girls and had created a hit list of 10 people. Seven girls and three boys were on the list.

The list contained information about how the people on the list would be killed and where their bodies would be buried.

Javier Maldonado has a child that goes to the school and says many parents are aware of the hit list.
