Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont formally announced he will run for president again Tuesday, telling his supporters in an email he plans to defeat the “most dangerous president in modern American history.”
Sanders also simultaneously appeared on CBS and released a video on Twitter highlighting his accomplishments as part of his announcement roll out.
“I am going to run for president. . . . We’re going to win,” Sanders told “CBS This Morning” co-host John Dickerson in an interview that aired early Tuesday.
Sanders added that, beyond just embarking on a second presidential campaign, he would launch “a grassroots movement . . . to lay the groundwork for transforming the economic and political life of this country.”
He said it is crucial to defeat President Trump, whom he described to Dickerson as “a racist,” “a sexist,” and “a xenophobe.”
