In recent weeks, lawmakers in New York and Virginia have crossed the line in advocating for infanticide. To protect babies who survive abortions, Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) has introduced the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (S. 130).
S. 130 would mandate that a medical professional provide healthcare to a baby who is born alive during an abortion attempt. If a doctor would act otherwise, they could be federally prosecuted and face jail time.
This is a common sense bill that should be bipartisan. However, Senate Democrats have labeled the bill as “anti-choice” and blocked a voice vote to move the legislation onto the House. The bill must not end here. Our Senators can urge Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to bring it to the floor for debate and a roll call vote.
