Special counsel Robert Mueller's team is in direct talks with the House Judiciary Committee about whether he will testify before Congress, according to multiple reports.
NBC News and ABC News reported that the committee is now speaking with Mueller's team when it was previously dealing with the Justice Department. NBC reports that a hearing has not been finalized and a date was not set.
The reported talks were discussed on air on MSNBC.
The Hill has reached out to the Judiciary Committee and the special counsel's office for comment.
Attorney General William Barr on Wednesday testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee and was scheduled to reappear Thursday, but canceled his Thursday testimony after he was grilled by Democratic lawmakers on a host of issues related to the Mueller's report on the special counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
