No Sanctuary From California Taxes

By Stephani Scruggs,Contributor,The American Dossier

As California cities throw wide their doors, (and social services), to the growing hordes of illegal aliens traversing our country; California cities are belatedly realizing that providing sanctuary to 2.4 million illegal aliens is, well, expensive.

Unable to afford the plethora of social services and decades of failed Democrat policies; California lawmakers are getting creative in their bid to keep the nearly bankrupt state afloat – off the back of its legal, taxpaying residents. Nothing is sacred to the California tax and spend politician.

New tires, oil, gas, firearms, soda pops, oil and gas – if California thinks the product is a sin, it will be taxed. Not content with the already exorbitant taxes the state levies against corporations, or even the high personal taxes paid by corporate executives; California now wants to tax corporations on corporations based on how much they pay their executives – essentially double taxing both the company and their staff.

Just in case one presumed that California only intends to tax ‘environmental sinners’ or those nasty corporations loaded with ‘awful rich folks’; think again. California lawmakers are also proposing new taxes on resident’s legal bills, water and even prescription medicines.

Need a divorce lawyer? Tax it. Thirsty? Tax it. Grandma and the baby’s prescription medicine? Tax it. At this rate, it’s only a matter of time before California decides to tax the air it’s residents breathe….oh wait, they already do, via the Clean Air tax.

As it stands, California has the highest overall tax rate in the country. Is it any wonder then, that California legal residents are fleeing the legislature’s fleecing in record numbers? Long predicted to hit a population of 50 million by 2020, California continues to lose ground every day. As of 2019, California is over 10 million people short of that long-anticipated 50 million mark. Over the last decade California lost over 1 million residents, and that number of tax refugees continues to grow with every insidious new tax bill California politicians dream up.

Sure, Gavin Newsom could try to make up those population losses by inviting even more illegals to his sanctuary state, but it’s clear he can’t find a way to pay for them. Perhaps it’s time California residents and Governor Newsome take some basic math classes – you can’t keep spending more and more money if you don’t have enough people producing actual income.

And if you squeeze people to hard, they will simply leave.

As to the fleeing California tax refugees, learn the lessons of your tax flight well – don’t bring your utopian ideas to your new homes, we don’t want to pay for those ridiculous policies any more than you did when you left California.
