The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s new chief of staff resigned this week to pursue another job after just two months in the position.
Jalisa Washington-Price’s departure so early in an election cycle surprised Democratic leadership staffers, but the veteran operative said she couldn't pass up a new opportunity.
"My time at the DCCC working to win back the House, while advancing the core values of our party — inclusion, opportunity, and progress — has been an incredible journey," Washington-Price wrote in an emailed statement. "They have a solid team for the 2020 cycle, but other opportunities have presented themselves for me and I'm looking forward to continuing to elect Democrats this cycle."
The DCCC announced Washington-Price’s promotion to chief of staff in early December. She had previously served as the director of the committee’s diversity office, leading all diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Washington-Price was the highest-ranking minority staffer at the DCCC.
