Over 120 missing children have been located in just one day as part of an astonishingly successful police operation in Michigan. Last month, authorities managed to find 123 children in the Wayne County area, which includes the city of Detroit.
The U.S. Marshals Service said Operation MISafeKid was focused on finding child victims of human trafficking.
“The Eastern District of Michigan is fully committed to assisting state and local agencies with locating and recovering missing children and the prevention of their falling victim to sex trafficking,” the U.S. Marshals Service said following the operation. “The Detroit Missing Child Recovery Unit is tasked with investigating and recovering missing children upon request by a law enforcement agency currently attempting to locate a missing child.”
The police “investigated missing child case files prior to the operation,” the release noted, according to The Detroit News. “Participating officers were given the case files and began investigating their whereabouts by visiting last known addresses, friends’ homes and schools in hopes of finding them in a safe.
