Back in the 90’s we had the clever political mantra “It’s the economy stupid”. Perhaps we can alter that to “Buy American Stupid”.
The U.S. and China have a March 1st deadline before new tariffs kick in. As of this writing officials are set to meet again this week in effort to stop a tariff war. We are now finding out about the effect of the shutdown on our economy,
According at a report on Friday from S&P global rating the economy lost $ 5 Billion during the latest government shut down. There is already speculation that another shutdown could be on the horizon unless both parties roll up their sleeves and stop the gridlock.
Now as of today, Monday Jan 28 that number is now at $ 11 Billion according to Non-partisan Congressional Budget office. It also speculates that economic growth will slow this year to 2.3 percent, compared with the 3.1 percent rate last year.
So what does this mean to the average Joe?
