The Summit in Review by John Katz

This has been a rough week for America. The much anticipated Trump –Putin Summit has come and gone with a loud roar and much dispute.

Much of the main stream media (not all) both... liberal and conservative have once again broadsided the public with theatrics and analysis. It is as though we are expected to only follow these pied pipers as if they were Jesus.

In this country we are all intellectual beings and fortunate to have freedom to choose and separate the wheat from the chaff.

We live in a time period in which we are on information overload. In a nanosecond at the push of a button we can be fed news...but are we being fed fact?

And of course there is the human nature of double standard.

This week there has been much debate on executive privilege. The way the media has portrayed reality one would think that we were being led by Darth Vader and that the sky is falling because two grown men held a private conversation without the presence of them.

Perhaps what we need is a history lesson/reminder on government on how our fore fathers saw things vs. how things are portrayed.

Someone please tell Chicken Little the sky is not falling.

By our laws we elect a President every four years. Unlike how information can be dispersed in a nanosecond we cannot determine the outcome of a presidential term… for better or for worse.

If indeed a legitimate reason for impeachment so be it. We need to stop being the divided states and once again be united and respect the Executive branch of our Government for better or for worse. Regardless of political party we need to trust the system.

We should not rush to impeach and looking for an aha moment.

Yes there is no doubt there was interference from Russia in our election process. Furthermore even more disturbing in a letter sent to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) in April and obtained recently by Motherboard, it was reported that Election Systems and Software acknowledged that it had provided pcAnywhere remote connection software … to a small number of customers between 2000 and 2006, which was installed on the election-management systems.

This clearly raises questions about the security of those systems and the integrity of elections that were conducted with them.

It has been 2 years we have investigated “Russian interference”. It should not be taken lightly. The reality is it probably happened before the dawn of the internet and our modern technology, the very reason we are more aware of it now.

This is a long term problem.

Now is the time for us to put aside banter and conspiracy theories and roll up our sleeves and not miss out on letting Statesmanship work whether it be Korea, Russia , Iran or your next door neighbor. We have nothing to lose when there is peaceful dialog regardless of political party.
